Emissions Inspectors must recertify every two years. An inspector’s expiration
date is printed on the purple inspector’s card. Inspectors can recertify up to
six months prior to their expiration date and still keep the original certification
month.
INSPECTORS SHOULD NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MONTH TO ATTEND A CLASS BECAUSE:
•Failure to complete the training and have the paperwork processed by the expiration
date will result in being locked out of emissions equipment.
•REGISTER EARLY! Students will need time to receive the book in the mail and
to read it prior to class. Having time to read the book will increase the chance
of passing the test. In the event that the test is failed, additional time will
be needed to take a retest.
A passing score on the written test is 80%. One retest may be taken if needed.
A retest is $30.
